2 dead, 8 hospitalized in fiery, ghostly crash in Chicago

CHICAGO (TBEN) — A speeding driver in a stolen car went the wrong way on a Chicago street and caused a fiery car wreck that killed two people and hospitalized at least eight others Wednesday night, police said.

Both occupants of the speeding Dodge Charger were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident in the Chatham neighborhood of Chicago’s South Side, Superintendent David Brown told reporters.

Six adults and two children, a 10-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl, have been taken to hospital due to injuries from the wreckage, police said Thursday morning. All were listed in fair or good condition.

Brown said the charger was reported stolen earlier in the day and authorities found a gun in the car. Officials did not immediately identify the two people who died in the charger.
