Joginder Sharma, an amount unknown ahead of the 2007 T20 World Cup in South Africa, blew a heartbeat at cricket-mad country when he delivered the final blow that helped India win the edition inaugural T20 WC. While Misbah-ul-Haq seemed certain to break the hoodoo surrounding Pakistan’s disappointing record against India in the ICC events, skipper MS Dhoni came out with a gem trusting Joginder for the final. Pakistan needed 13 races from 6 deliveries while chasing 158 for the win as the game reached a biting final.

After conceding a six in the first two balls of the over, Dhoni, in his element, guided Joginder and kept him calm as the world watched impatiently.

With only six more bullets needed out of 4 bullets, Misbah, to everyone’s surprise, attempted to execute a short, thin leg shot to find Indian point guard S Sreesanth.

It was Dhoni’s first ICC title victory as he won the 50th World Cup in 2011 and the Champions Trophy in 2013.
