A 25-year-old man, Ismail Saliu, was arrested by the Kwara State Command, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, for the alleged murder of his blood brother for ritual monetary purposes.
Two other people, including an herbalist, Ahmed Nkwe, were also arrested in connection with the Kosubosu incident, in the Baruten local government area, in Kwara state.
They allegedly murdered Azeez Saliu, 14, younger brother of the main suspect, Ismail Saliu.
A statement from command spokesperson Babawale Zaid Afolabi in Ilorin on Saturday said that “NSCDC agents at the Kosubosu divisional office received a distress call from the neighborhood regarding the suspicious movements of some people in the area.
“Some officers from the divisional office along with members of the vandal-resistant patrol team in the area took action and subsequently arrested an herbalist, Ahmed Nkwe (44) and Saliu Ahmed (30).
According to the spokesperson, the suspects “lured the victim to the farm where he was horribly murdered by his own blood brother, Ismail Saliu”.
Luck, however, ran out of suspects when they were pulled over by NSCDC agents on the way home from the farm.
“The main suspect, Ismail Saliu, who is the brother of the deceased, confessed to having personally slaughtered his brother with the help of the herbalist and another person,” the statement further revealed.
Command Commander Iskil Ayinla Makinde ordered the suspects to be turned over to law enforcement authorities for further investigation and prosecution.
