27-year-old Andhra Pradesh student dies after his car crashes into a tree in Australia

Sai Rohit Paladugu, a 27-year-old student from Andhra Pradesh, died at the scene after his car crashed into a tree in the Australian state of Victoria, media reports said. Paladugu, who came to Australia in 2017 to pursue higher education, was a resident of the village of Polakala Yellampally in Chittoor district, the Herald Sun reported.

Victoria Police believe the car was traveling north on the Goulburn Valley Highway on Nov. 3 when it went off the road and hit a tree at the Hume Freeway junction. They are still investigating and do not yet know what time the collision took place.

Investigators are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage of the vehicle to contact Crime Stoppers, or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au, the NCR Review reports. Friends said that Paladugu also worked to help his mother and pay off the student loan he received to come to Australia.

His father had already died and he was the sole breadwinner. To support his family, more than $65,000 has been raised through a fundraiser run by the Telugu Association Of Australia, SBS Tamil reported.
