29,616 new cases of COVID-19 in India, 5.6% less than yesterday

New Delhi:

India today registered 29,616 new cases of Covid, 5.6% less than yesterday (31,382). The daily positivity rate – the number of positive cases identified per 100 – is 1.86% per cent.

The main medical body, the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), informed Friday that even if the third wave arrives in the country, its intensity will be low. The government has authorized door-to-door vaccination against COVID-19 for people belonging to the category of people with disabilities and reduced mobility.

The drugs ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) have been withdrawn from the revised clinical guidelines for the management of adult patients with COVID-19, the Indian Council for Medical Research has said. However, the new guidelines mention the use of Remdesivir and Tocilizumab in specific circumstances. Some of the key guidelines that are regularly highlighted include wearing masks, physical distancing, and hand hygiene.
