The BCCI Selection Committee has announced India’s T20 World Cup 2022 team on Monday September 12. Rohit Sharma will lead the 15-man squad with Jasper Bumrah and Harshal Patel make a comeback in the squad. Some players who were in the T20 World Cup last year have been ignored this year. In the meantime, Mohammed Shami will be added to the reserves alongside Shreyas Iyer and Deepak Chahar.

Australia is the venue and host of the tournament. They are also the defending champions of the tournament. Last year. Australia won the 2021 T20 WC title after beating New Zealand in the final. Australia won their first ever title in the tournament.

India’s T20 World Cup squad is almost the same as the Asia Cup squad that was announced. Ravindra Jadeja is a big miss in the flank. However, the return of Bumrah and Harshal evens out.

Another big news is that Mohammed Shami cannot find a place in the main force. He belongs to the reserves along with Ravi Bishnoi, Shreyas Iyer and Deepak Chahar. Chahar and Bishnoi were part of the main squad in the Asian Cup, but are among the reserves for the T20 World Cup.

Avesh was one of three pacesetters originally selected in India’s Asia Cup squad. However, after the first two games, he got sick and didn’t play any of the super 4 games for India. Due to his untimely illness, India played most of the Asian Cup with only two regular seamen. It turned out that there was extra pressure on both the sailors to perform and Bhuvneshwar Kumar with all his experience allowed expensive runs in the 19th overs against Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The losses meant that India faced a Super 4 exit from the tournament.
