32 students tested positive for COVID-19 at Jawahar Navodaya school in Karnataka


As many as 32 students have tested positive for COVID-19 at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Madikeri, Kodagu in Karnataka. There were a total of 270 students and one teacher also tested positive.

Most students are grade 9 to 12 standard and asymptomatic. Other students were ordered to self-isolate for seven days.

Notably, the school reopened for offline classes on September 20. Five days later, two students in Class 10 developed symptoms of fever. Then they tested positive for COVID-19.

As a result, Class 10 offline courses have been suspended. However, after resuming classes, two students tested positive again.

“As a result, all 279 students were tested for COVID-19 with support from the district administration. Of these, 33 students tested positive and were transferred to Madikeri COVID Hospital. Most of them are asymptomatic, ”said the principal, Pankajaksh, quoted by a major daily. He confirmed that the COVID-positive students are in grades 9 to 12 and are from the district.
