CHICAGO (TBEN) – Shootings in the city over the weekend have left at least three dead and 11 others injured. The ages of the victims range from 22 to 56 years.
In the first shooting of the weekend, a 30-year-old man was shot and killed Friday evening while cycling on the city’s Near West Side.
Police said the bicyclist was driving on the 1300 block of West Washburne Avenue around 5:10 p.m. when he was hit in the abdomen and legs by an unknown assailant.
The victim was transported to Stroger Hospital in stable condition.
A 22-year-old man is dead after heFriday.
The shooting happened around 6:16 PM in Block 2300 of East 71st Street
Police say the victim was riding a scooter when he was hit by a Hyundai Sonata. The victim then ran west on the 71st when an occupant of the Hyundai Sonata who struck the victim produced a firearm and fired shots. The Hyundai Sonata then collided with a guardrail, police said.
The victim was transported to the University of Chicago Hospital in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head and chest and was later pronounced dead.
A 45-year-old man was discovered on the grass of Washington Park around 8:21 p.m. Friday evening in the 600 block of East 60th with a gunshot wound to the chest.
The victim was transported to U of C where he was pronounced dead.
Other details were not immediately available.
A man, 23, was gunned down Friday evening while sitting in a vehicle in Back of the Yards.
The victim was in the vehicle, in block 1700 of West 47th Street, at about 11:25 p.m. when the gunfire was fired. He was transported in fair condition by the Chicago Fire Department to Stroger Hospital with a gunshot wound to the left leg.
For other admissions from Friday 5 p.m. to Monday 5 a.m.:
· At 12:07 a.m. Saturday, two men were standing on the sidewalk in the 2000 block of East 67th Street when an occupant of a black sedan fired shots. A 24-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the left leg was transported in good condition by the CFD to U or C. A 25-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the right leg was transported by the CFD to U or C in good condition.
Saturday at 1:07 a.m., on the 3900 block of West Grand Avenue, a 30-year-old man was driving a vehicle when shots were fired from another vehicle. The victim was transported to Loyola by the CFD in good condition with gunshot wounds to the left leg and left arm.
· At 1:10 a.m. Saturday, in block 3400 of West Madison Street, a 40-year-old woman was a passenger in a moving vehicle when a shot was fired from another vehicle. The victim was delivered to Stroger in reasonable condition with gunshot wounds to the body.
Saturday at 2:14 am, in the 0-100 block of West Cermak Road, the. A 30-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene with a gunshot wound to the chest. Another man was transported to Northwestern Hospital in critical condition with gunshot wounds to the back and face.
Saturday at 4:57 a.m., at 3300 block of West Augusta Boulevard, a 29-year-old man was driving east on Augusta while in a vehicle when a dark-colored SUV stopped at the victim and an unidentified assailant fired shots into his direction. The victim was transported to Sinai in good condition with a gunshot wound to his left arm and two scrapes to his back.
At 5:30 p.m. Saturday, a 40-year-old man was shot in the wrist at 1300 block of South California Avenue in Lawndale. He himself was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.
At 6:24 p.m. Saturday, a 31-year-old man was near an alley behind the 500 block of East 72nd Street in Park Manor when someone shot him in the hand. He was himself transported to Jackson Park Hospital in good condition.
Saturday at 8:21 PM, a 56-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk at 3800 block of West Madison Street in West Garfield Park when he heard gunshots and felt pain. He was shot twice in the left arm and twice in the right knee and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition. The victim did not cooperate with the police and refused to answer questions.
Sunday at 11:13 PM, in the 6500 block of South St. Louis, an unaged male victim was walking on the sidewalk when a white van approached and an unknown person fired from the vehicle toward the victim. The victim suffered three gunshot wounds to the left leg and wrist and was transported by CFD to Advocate Christ Medical Center in good condition.
Sunday at 12:11 a.m., on the 3000 block of South Ashland Avenue, a 34-year-old man was driving south on Ashland Avenue when he heard gunshots and felt pain. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the lower back and was transported by CFD to Stroger Hospital in good condition.
At noon Sunday, on the 9200 block of South Marquette Avenue, an unaged male victim was sitting on the porch when a white vehicle approached, and an unknown person fired shots from inside the vehicle. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the right hand and was transported by CFD to the U of C hospital in good condition.
On Sunday at 12:36 p.m., on the 1300 block of South Sawyer Avenue, a 31-year-old woman was standing on the sidewalk when she noticed an argument, after which an unknown man pulled out a gun and fired at her. The victim suffered gunshot wounds to the lower right leg and ankle and was transported in good condition by CFD to Sinai Hospital on the mountain.
At 12:20 p.m. Sunday, on the 7000 block of South Ada Street, officers responded to a person who had fallen over the wheel and officers discovered an unidentified man on the passenger side of a vehicle. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the left side of the head and died at the scene.
On Sunday at 3:45 a.m. on the 200 block of West 75th Street, an unaged male victim was walking on the sidewalk when a black sedan approached and fired shots in his direction. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the right calf and was transported to U of C hospital in good condition.
At 4:25 a.m. Sunday, a 45-year-old man was standing outside the 3500 block of South Damen Avenue when he heard gunshots and then felt pain. He transported himself to Sinai with a gunshot wound to his abdomen and left hip in critical condition.
Sunday at 4:18 a.m., in the 500 block of E. 75th Street, three people were standing outside when shots were heard and then they felt pain. A woman, 51, was transported to Stroger in good condition with an abrasion to the back of her neck. Another 26-year-old woman was herself transported to Saint Bernard Hospital in an unknown condition with a gunshot wound to her left elbow and an abrasion to her abdomen. A 30-year-old man was transported to Jackson Park Hospital in good condition with an abrasion to his left calf.
