MINNEAPOLIS (TBEN) – The COVID pandemic is still raging in America, although a number of vaccines are starting to make people feel like there is light at the end of the tunnel. New survey shows many people plan to go crazy when things get back to normal.
A new survey by Lending Tree shows that eight in 10 Americans who plan to get the vaccine say they are planning a craze after it happens, something like a fancy dinner party or a vacation.
But 15% say they never feel financially secure again, and more than half of those polled said they will continue to save as much as they can in the event the pandemic returns.
Respondents said they would continue to spend more on things like grocery delivery services and first-class travel, but would be less likely to dine out or go to the movies even afterwards. that the vaccine is widely available.
“Hope is an incredibly powerful thing, and the fact that it’s starting to rise after the year we’ve just been through is definitely a good thing,” said Matt Schulz, chief credit analyst at LendingTree. “However, that doesn’t change the fact that the economy is still in a mess and millions of Americans just can’t afford madness of any kind right now.”
