A Major Victory for Democrats and Democracy as Court Throws Arizona GOP Mail in Lawsuit

The Republican attacks on voting have been going on all year, which is why it’s significant that an Arizona court rejected a GOP challenge against the state’s mail-in voting without excuse.

AZ Central reported:

The three-judge appeals court rejected the party’s argument that voting by mail violates the secrecy clause in the state constitution, which requires voters to have a way to hide their choices on the ballot.

The state’s mail-in or early voting process ensures secrecy, the court found, “by requiring voters to ensure they fill out their ballot secretly and seal the ballot in an envelope containing the voters’ choices.” not disclosed.”

DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene, DNC Chair Jaime Harrison, DSCC Chair Gary Peters and Arizona Democratic Party Chair Raquel Terán all responded to the ruling in a joint statement to PoliticianUSA:

This ruling is a victory for all Arizona residents. The state has a long history of operating a popular and secure mail-in voting system, and we took pride in defending ourselves against the Republicans’ continued attempts to undermine it.

While the Republicans try to manipulate the rules and ignore the will of the voters, the Democrats stand united, ready to take the Republicans to court to protect the rights of every eligible voter and ensure their vote is counted.
