STUDIO CITY (TBEN) – New guidelines released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for when and where people should wear masks have created widespread confusion in the Los Angeles area.
In a video posted to his Facebook page on Sunday, former “Silver Spoons” actor Ricky Schroder had an argument with a Costco employee who would not let him enter the store without a mask.

“Why don’t you let me in,” said Schroder. “Across the country, Costco said you don’t need masks.”
The situation illustrated how confusing the CDC’s new mask guidelines and the political announcements from companies like Costco, Walmart, and Trader Joe’s that followed are confusing and, in some cases, irritating people.
According to the Costco and Walmart websites, stores allow people to enter without masks, but only in places where there is no national or local mask warrant.
While Gov. Gavin Newsom said on Friday he plans to adopt federal guidelines on masks and when, California’s mask mandate remains in place until at least June 15.

However, LA-are Trader Joe’s stores told TBEN that they allow fully vaccinated customers to shop without wearing masks.
Not everyone was aware of the new mask policies, and some of those familiar with the new guidelines said they still didn’t feel comfortable shopping without their masks on.
“Even if you are allowed to do something, it doesn’t mean you should always do it,” said a client of Trader Joe’s.
It is not known whether the state will contact private companies that lift the mask’s mandate against state directives.
