Joe Biden has presented himself as a unifier of the nation, but there is someone else the new administration is hoping to help begin to heal the divided United States next week: Universally beloved actor Tom Hanks .
The “Forrest Gump” star will host a special broadcast simultaneously on all major US networks on the night of Biden’s inauguration, US media reported.
The 90-minute show titled “Celebrating America” will feature musical performances by Jon Bon Jovi, Justin Timberlake and Demi Lovato.
“I am so honored to announce that I will be joining @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris for their special event,” Lovato wrote on Twitter.

The show – hosted by the inaugural presidential committee – will replace the usual festivities at the swearing-in ceremony, canceled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Aretha Franklin sang at Barack Obama’s first inauguration in 2009, while Beyonce sang at her second four years later.
Trump had to settle for lesser-known artists in 2017 due to his unpopularity in the entertainment world. Country singer Toby Keith was the headliner for the event.
The prime-time special hosted by Hanks on Wednesday, January 20, will begin at 8:30 p.m. Eastern Time (1:30 a.m. GMT Thursday) and will air on TBEN, TBEN, NBC, TBEN and MSNBC.
It will pay tribute to “American heroes”, including frontline workers in the fight against COVID-19.
