Priyanka Chopra Jonas is one of the presenters of the upcoming 74th British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA), which will take place April 10-11 at the Royal Albert Hall.
Priyanka, who is currently in London, took to Instagram Stories to repost from BAFTA’s official Instagram page, breaking the news. “So honored and excited to do a presentation at #EEBAFTA this Sunday!” she wrote.
The category that Priyanka will present, EE BAFTA represents the Rising Star Award which rewards new talent. Previously called the Orange Rising Star Award, it is now designed as an EE for commercial reasons.
Other presenters this year include Phoebe Dynevor, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Cynthia Erivo, Hugh Grant, Richard E. Grant, Tom Hiddleston, Felicity Jones, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, James McAvoy, David Oyelowo and Pedro Pascal.
Priyanka and other presenters in London will be joined virtually by presenters from Los Angeles, including Rose Byrne, Andra Day, Anna Kendrick and Renee Zellweger.
On the job front, Priyanka’s last on-screen outing was “ The White Tiger, ” a film she starred in and produced by management. Interestingly, “The White Tiger” has two BAFTA nominations this year – for lead actor Adarsh Gourav in the Lead Actor category and writer-director Ramin Bahrami in the Best Adapted Screenplay category.
Recently, Priyanka and her husband, pop star Nick Jonas, also announced the 2021 Oscar nominations. Priyanka recently announced her own restaurant in New York City, which offers Indian cuisine for foodies. The actress said that she poured her love for Indian food into this restaurant and named it SONA.
Priyanka revealed details about “SONA” earlier in March. The description on the website read: “SONA reinvents the wonders of Indian cuisine in a space that evokes a bygone era of loud but elegant India – all in the heart of New York.” Interestingly, “SONA” also has a “private dining room” named Mimi, which is Priyanka’s nickname.
