“Change the channel and stop your hatred!” Alan Carr fans stand up for ‘handsome dude’ after he suffered homophobic abuse as he replaced Zoe Ball on Radio 2

Alan Carr has been defended by some of his devoted fans after the talented host was abused with ‘homophobic undertones’ on Twitter on Monday.

The Chatty Man host, 44, was all the rage after featuring Zoe Ball, 50, on her Radio 2 Breakfast show.

It was recently announced that Alan will cover five mornings starting Monday, February 22 while Zoe takes annual leave.

He said on the Monday show, “ I can’t wait to spend my Monday morning with you ” as he performed Tavares’ hit, Heaven Must Me Missing An Angel.

Alan continued, “ Hello superheroes, who’s with us this morning? I’m not a morning person, so it’s going to be a lot of fun.

Many people enjoyed listening to him, but others were forced to speak up for him after spotting negative tweets.

“The way 95% of the people who tweet about Alan Carr on Radio 2 are obviously from a place of homophobia.

“ I’m sure Alan Carr is a lovely guy, but it’s not a voice I want to allow myself to switch from sleep to work in the morning. Radio 2 is becoming more and more unlistenable day by day. *Switch off*.’

“ The underlying #homophobia of everyone complaining about # AlanCarr’s voice on the radio this morning. No one literally cares. Change channels + STFU with your hate #EverydayHomophobia. ‘

‘@a talkative man. You need a regular spot on radio two! So nice to listen to you and we need more laughs at this point in our history.

“Alan Carr was brilliant on the radio this morning. Great way to start on a Monday.

“I never listen to Radio 2 either, but I’ll be listening this week especially to hear the wonderful Alan Carr.
