Plans are at an advanced stage for the take-off of the Ogun State Security Network, otherwise known as the Amotekun Corps, DAILY POST has learned.
Recall that Governor Dapo Abiodun, during his New Year’s broadcast, assured the people of Ogun that Amotekun’s body would be inaugurated in the state this month.
Giving an update, Governor Abiodun’s Chief of Staff Shuaib Salisu revealed that the government has purchased vehicles, motorcycles and other gadgets to aid the operations of Amotekun officers.
According to Salisu, 100 patrol vehicles, 200 motorcycles and various communication gadgets are already available to improve the operations of the new security team.
The chief of staff added that Amotekun would have training in all 20 local governments in Ogun to protect lives and property in remote areas.
Salisu, while featured on a live television broadcast, revealed that a former police commissioner, David Ajibola Akinremi, had been appointed commander of the Ogun Amotekun corps.
He stressed that the government will no longer allow criminals to have free reigns in Ogun State.
