The Japan Visualmedia Translation Academy is a school in Tokyo that offers courses to become a visual media translator, mainly between Japanese and English. But for the upcoming streaming event, the academy is adding a third language to its repertoire: Ukrainian.
The J-Anime Stream for Ukraine, scheduled from November 25 to December 2, is a free on-demand broadcast of anime with Ukrainian subtitles. Organized in partnership with the Japan University of Economics, from the captioning to the planning and promotion, the event will be primarily the work of Ukrainian evacuees working as JVTA interns. As a result, the students will not only gain professional translation experience, but also experience the joy of spreading Japanese cinema among their fellow refugees in Japan.
