Suzuki introduced a new sports tourer based on the recently updated Suzuki GSX-S1000GT. The new GT sport tourer has more or less the same styling as the bare GSX-S1000 which was introduced earlier this year, but gets a tall windshield, fairing and longer seat for more passenger comfort. The engine of the GT is the same 150 hp inline four-cylinder engine as that of the GSX-S1000, with maximum power at 11,000 rpm and maximum torque of 106 Nm at 9250 rpm. What is different from the bare is the new bolt-on subframe which is stronger and more robust for more luggage and passenger carrying capacity than the bare GSX-S1000.

The style incorporates crisp folds and angles, highlighting the design element of current trends. It’s still not a breathtakingly beautiful bike, but there isn’t much to complain about. The fuel tank area is transferred straight from the bare, but the GT gets a larger front fairing that provides better wind protection, as well as a longer, more comfortable saddle. The face uses LED headlights which are mounted directly to the nose and protrude from the fairing. He looks sporty, but when viewed from the front his face has an angry expression.

The Suzuki GSX-S1000GT is available in two variants, with the standard GT + saddlebags. Saddlebags are optional on the GT.

The KYB suspension and Brembo brakes from the standard GSX-S are retained, with manually adjustable 43mm inverted forks and a rear monoshock adjustable for preload and rebound. Braking functions are provided by radial Brembo brake calipers gripping two 310mm discs on the front wheel and a single 240mm single disc on the rear wheel, with standard ABS. There is no turn function on the system. The GT also benefits from cruise control and low-end assist which helps prevent the bike from stalling at low revs.
