Apple has a virtual launch event scheduled for Monday, October 18 where it is expected to introduce new models of MacBook Pro and AirPods. Ahead of the event, two reports claim that the base model of the upcoming MacBook Pro will have 16GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, an improved webcam, a new charging brick, and a Mini display. LED. New MacBook models are also expected to be powered by Apple’s upcoming M1X chipset. One analyst – who shared the information on Mini-LED displays – mentions that the displays could feature a refresh rate of 120Hz.
Tipster Dylan (@dylandkt) has share some specs for upcoming MacBook Pro models. Apple’s new laptops are reportedly offered in 14- and 16-inch models with Mini-LED screens that will also have smaller edges on all sides and no logos at the bottom of the screen. The screen would also be accompanied by a 1080p webcam. Dylan mentions that the base variants of the MacBook Pro models will get 16GB of RAM and 512GB of onboard storage and that the base Apple M1X will have the same setup for both variants.
Additionally, Dylan mentions that the prices of the two MacBook Pro models will be similar and that future laptops will also receive a new charging brick. MacRumors reports that newer MacBook Pro models would come with a MagSafe charging port that would require the new charging hardware.
Dylan also says MacBook Pro models will no longer feature the Touch Bar. Newer laptops are said to have an HDMI port, an SD card slot, and a MagSafe port. Additionally, the tipster also mentions that multi-screen support will be arriving as well.
Display analyst Ross Young, responding to a tweet, noted that future MacBook Pro models would get Mini-LED displays with the option of a 120Hz refresh rate and oxide backplanes. The tweet was spotted by MacRumours. Young also mentioned that Mini-LED displays are a guarantee and that the panel suppliers are the same ones that supply screens for iPad Pro models. It’s likely that newer MacBook Pro models would benefit from Apple’s ProMotion technology found on the iPad Pro and iPhone 13 Pro models.
The next MacBook Pro models and the third-generation AirPods – which are said to be designed as AirPods Pro – are expected to launch at the Apple Unleashed event on October 18 at 10 a.m. PDT (10:30 p.m. PST).
