Indian tennis player Sumit Nagal withdrew from the ongoing Argentina Open on Friday (local time) after losing his quarter-final clash. Spaniard Albert Ramos Vinolas outclassed Nagal 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 at Court Guillermo Vilas. The first set was won by Nagal 6-4 and he was looking to win another set in order to advance to the semi-finals. But, the Spaniard manages to change his fortune and he ended up triumphing in the next two sets to win the quarter-final and progress in the tournament.

On Thursday, Nagal had outclassed the world number. 22 Christian Garinto at the Argentine Open and recorded his biggest victory of his career.

In the second round, Nagal beat Chilean Garinto 6-4, 6-3 to reach the quarter-finals of the tournament.

It was Nagal’s very first victory over a Top 50 player. Nagal has faced top players like Roger Federer and Dominic Thiem in the past.

He even managed to clinch the first set against Federer at the 2019 US Open. Nagal met Thiem during the shock of the second round of the US Open 2020.

Nagal had withdrawn from this year’s Australian Open in the first round.
