In a virtual press conference, Sanjeev Mittal, managing director, Central Railway, called on everyone to avoid speculation about this under such difficult coronavirus circumstances.

He also informed that for the convenience of passengers, the railways operate more trains in the summer and that adequate tickets are available as only passengers with confirmed tickets are allowed to board the trains.

“Passengers are advised to adhere to all standards, COVID19-related SOPs during boarding, travel and at destination,” he added.

Meanwhile, in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the railway administration has decided to stop issuing platform tickets at some stations in the Mumbai division, including Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus stations. , Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Kalyan, Thane, Dadar and Panvel. .

With this in mind, the Western Railway has also ceased issuing platform tickets with immediate effect. Entrance to stations is now only reserved for passengers with confirmed tickets.
