Union Minister of State for AYUSH Shripad Naik said Ayurveda, yoga and other systems would be very helpful for the whole world in dealing with post-COVID-19 hardships.
In a series of tweets on Saturday, Naik said a new model of healthcare delivery with more emphasis on preventative measures was needed to effectively tackle such a crisis in the future.
The profound impact of the pandemic will lead to fundamental changes in society and the healthcare system, he said after virtualizing a global web conference on “ the post COVID-19 era – Impact on health and humanity on man and societies ”.
“I am sure Ayurveda, Yoga and other systems will be of great help to the whole world in dealing with the difficulties of Post Covid,” tweeted Mr Naik, who has himself recovered from the coronavirus infection in September.
He said Ayurveda and other traditional systems of medicine by virtue of their holistic approach to health and disease and their cost effectiveness have an advantage in treating health problems along with primary disease prevention.
“These systems also have solutions to tackle the psychological and emotional problems that arose after the pandemic,” he tweeted.
Ayurveda has been included in the national treatment protocol jointly launched by the Ministry of Health and Family and the Ministry of AYUSH, he said.
“India is not only taking effective measures to prevent and treat this disease in the national context, but it is also a strong supporter of participation in international efforts,” the minister said.
