The 25-year-old all-rounder of the Bangladesh National Cricket Team, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, has been awarded an all-format contract by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for his impressive performances in international cricket.
Mehidy was in sensational form in last month’s series against India and single-handedly led his side to an ODI series victory. In total, he took 31 wickets in 8 Tests in 2022 and scored 185. In 15 ODIs, he scored 330 runs and claimed 24 wickets. Also in T20Is he took 4 wickets in 6 T20Is and scored 122 runs.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) recently announced a 21-member list of centrally contracted cricketers for the 2023 season and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Shakib Al Hasan, Taskin Ahmed and Litton Das were the players included in the all-format category.
Veteran wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim, who spent most of his career in the all-format category, was not awarded a T20I contract and was included in the Tests and ODIs category. Shoriful Islam also failed to keep his all-format contract.

Meanwhile, there were four players – Shadman Islam, Mahmudul Hasan, Naim Sheikh and Yasir Ali – who failed to keep their spots on the contract list. Nazmul Hossain was entered in the Tests and T20Is category and Mahmudullah was entered in the newly introduced ODI category.
Young batsman Zakir Hasan and Khaled Ahmed were awarded Test contracts, while Mossadek Hossain and Hasan Mahmud are the new inclusions on the T20I contract list.

BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin, while speaking about Yasir Ali’s exclusion from the contract list, said he was not performing as expected.
“It’s true he was a big part of our team, but he couldn’t deliver what we expected and that’s why he’s not included in the central contract,” BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin told Cricbuzz.
“The other three cricketers – Joy, Shadman, Naim – also fell short of our expectations,” he said.
“We think Zakir is a promising candidate and that is why we have included him in the contract list for the Test category.”
