The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) raided the production office and home of comedian Bharti Singh on Saturday, and from both locations 86.5g of ganja were recovered.
Bharti and her husband Harsh Limbachiyaa both accepted the consumption of ganja. Bharti Singh has been arrested and Limbachiyaa’s review is ongoing, NCB said in a statement.
Previously, after a raid on their residence, Bharti and Harsh were arrested and taken for investigation to NCB offices in south Mumbai in separate vehicles where they were questioned. Upon arriving at the NCB offices, Bharti Singh briefly told reporters that they had been “called for questioning”.
Actress Bharti and Harsh are renowned comedians, television personalities hosting programs, appearing in reality shows or series.
Notably, a raid was also carried out at the residence of actor Arjun Rampal, after which he and his girlfriend were summoned by the BCN for questioning on the matter.
NCB had previously raided a place in the Khar Danda region and caught a 21-year-old trafficker with various drugs, including 15 spots of LSD (commercial amount), ganja (40 grams) and nitrazepam (psychotropic drugs). ).
The latest action is part of ongoing investigations into the link between the Bollywood Mafia and drugs that the BCN has been trying to unravel for about three months.
From September to date, BCN has arrested more than 20 people, including Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty, now on bail, her brother Showik and others linked to the film industry, drug financiers. , suppliers or hawkers, including foreigners.
While the NCB claims to have uncovered a close connection between the drug mafia and the glamor industry, it has interviewed several movie personalities.
Among them were actresses Deepika Padukone, Shraddha Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, model-actor Arjun Rampal and filmmaker Firoz Nadiadwala, whose wife Shabana was arrested and released on bail after the discovery of certain amounts of drugs. “ in commercial quantity ” at his home.
The NCB investigations are an offshoot of the investigation into the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who was found dead at his home in Bandra on June 14, which sparked huge political controversy.
