Revolutionary Socialist Party candidate Pradip Kumar Nandi, who tested positive for COVID-19 four days ago, died in a hospital in Berhampore on Friday, a health department official said.

Mr Nandi, 73, a party candidate for the Jangipur assembly constituency in Murshidabad district in the ongoing West Bengal assembly elections, was in home isolation and taken to Berhampore hospital Thursday night after his condition deteriorated, he said.

Samsherganj segment congressional candidate Rezaul Haque, who tested positive for COVID-19, also died in a hospital in Calcutta on Thursday.
