Boko Haram: troops retake Marte, as explosion shakes Maiduguri – TBEN

Nigerian troops managed to charge via Marte, killing dozens of ISWAP / Boko Haram terrorists who besieged this area for a few days.

Marte is a local government area in northern Borno state, which has been in the hands of Boko Haram fighters since its takeover last week.

The local government is about 120 km from Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.

The takeover of Marte by Nigerian troops today was in response to an order given by Army Chief Stsft, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru during his visit to Army Super Camp 9 in Dikwa where he gave the troops an ultimatum to retake the area within 48 hours.

DAILY POST reports that troops successfully and safely detonated a series of IEDS laced along the roads and eventually dominated the general area.

“New Marte has effectively been in our hands since 3pm. Our will and determination are unwavering. We are still determined not to let down our department heads and the nation, ”Troops said.

Meanwhile, there is a report of a bomb explosion around the Kangarmaka area in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State this evening (Tuesday).

Locals said the bomb explosion claimed many lives, but there was no security confirmation on the victim.
