State Highway 6 on the west coast is expected to remain closed until tomorrow afternoon after a large section of the cliff face fell onto the road.

The boulder blocks the road at Barrytown in the Gray District – the main road connecting Punakaiki to Greymouth
Police said the rock will likely keep the road closed until noon, but Waka Kotahi said the road was now closed for the weekend and the next update will be Monday afternoon.
