Boy, 17, shot in the neck on Far South Side


A 17-year-old boy is in critical condition after someone shot him in the neck on the Far South Side on Saturday afternoon, officials said.

The boy was standing on the curb on the 1000 block of East 132nd Street at about 3:54 p.m. when a vehicle stopped and an assailant fired inside, hitting him, Chicago police said.

He was taken by paramedics in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Chicago Fire Chief Juan Hernandez said.

Hernandez said no one else was injured.

Area 2 detectives are investigating, but have not made any arrests.
