#NextGenATP American Brandon Nakashima tasted success on the US Open hard courts last week, beating Pavel Kotov and Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets before Jannik Sinner finished his run in the third round in New York.
The 21-year-old’s aggressive performance has increased his chances of qualifying for the second consecutive year for the Intesa Sanpaolo Next Gen ATP Finals, with the American consolidating his seventh position in the Pepperstone ATP Live Race To Milan.
Nakashima, who reached the semifinals in the 21-and-under event last season, will aim to climb further when he competes domestically next week in San Diego.
Britain’s Jack Draper has further cemented his fifth position after rising to the third round on his New York debut. The 20-year-old, who has won four ATP Challenger Tour titles this season, overpowered Felix Auger-Aliassime under the light at the US Open to take his second Top 10 win. The lefty took his first Top 10 win last month against Stefanos Tsitsipas en route to the quarterfinals in Montreal.
Italian Francesco Passaro’s standout season on the ATP Challenger Tour continued to improve in early September as he advanced to the final in Como, Italy. The 21-year-old, who has a record 28-11 on the Challenger Tour this season, is aiming for his home soil debut at the indoor event in Milan, taking place November 8-12.
