Brec Bassinger talks about the last season of Star girl from DC and revealed that two endings were included in the event of cancellation. In addition, she talked about how season 4 could have been.
“Geoff [Johns] was so smart because obviously there’s been a lot of changes in the CW and the Warner Brothers over the last year so the future of a show wasn’t quite certain which is why he went the extra mile and shot two different endings because he wanted to please the fans not leave with all these question marks,” Bassinger said on the Wayne Ayers Podcast.
Bassinger said the alternate ending was shot in mid-March this year, two months before she knew the ultimate fate of the show’s cancellation.
The show’s star said the finale has “a lot of nice endings” and teased the fourth season which has now been scrapped by adding, “It’s going to make people sad because the idea for the fourth season was insane. Like it was going to be epic And I actually think that’s why it took so long for us to officially get the cancellation news, because Geoff came up with such a great idea… But it wasn’t to be.”
Created by Geoff Johns, Star girl revolves around high school student Courtney Whitmore, a character Johns started in 1999 and was inspired by his sister who died in the explosion of TWA Flight 800 in 1996.
Star girl ends on The CW after three seasons with the final episode airing December 7. News of the show’s cancellation comes as Nexstar Media Group has finalized its acquisition of the broadcast network.
