The Common Admission Test (CAT) is one of the most popular exams taken in India. The registration process for this will start from tomorrow and will run until September 14th.
CAT 2022 will be conducted in test centers across approximately 150 cities. Candidates will be given the option to choose six optional cities. CAT Center will do its best to ensure that a candidate receives one of the preferred options. In case of high demand in a particular region, CAT Center reserves the right to allocate a center near one of the preferred options.
Once a center has been assigned to a candidate, no change is allowed.
CAT 2022 will be held on November 27, 2022 (Sunday) in three sessions.
The duration of the test will be 120 minutes. There will be three sections:
Section I: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension
Part II: Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning
Section III: Quantitative Power
Candidates are given exactly 40 minutes to answer questions in each section and they are not allowed to switch from one section to another while answering questions in a section.
Suitability:
The candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree, with at least 50% credits or equivalent CGPA [45% in the case of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disability (PwD) categories]awarded by a university or educational institution as incorporated by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature in India or declared to be considered a university under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or hold an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
It should be noted, however, that if selected, such candidates, if selected, may enter the program for the time being only if they present a certificate from the Director/Registrar of their University/Institution (issued on or before the date as determined by the respective IIM) in which it states that they have met all the requirements for obtaining the bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification on the date of issue of the certificate.
Applicants applying for CAT 2022 must meet one of the following requirements:
Bachelor degree obtained with the required percentage of points*.
Completed vocational training (CA/CS/ICWA/Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of India)
(FIAI)) with required percentage*.
Must be in final year of undergraduate with required percentage*.
*SC/ST/PwD candidates must have a minimum of 45%. For General, EWS and NC-OBC
candidates, the minimum is 50%. The percentage of points obtained by the candidate would be calculated based on the practice followed by the respective university/institution. In the case of grades/CGPA, the conversion to percentage of grades would be based on the procedure certified by the respective university/institution. If a university/institution confirms that there is no schedule for converting CGPA to equivalent grades, equivalence is determined by dividing the candidate’s CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the result by 100.
IIMs may verify eligibility at various stages of the selection process, details of which are provided on the website www.iimcat.ac.in. Applicants should note that meeting the minimum eligibility criteria alone will not result in IIMs being shortlisted. Candidates must provide and maintain a valid and unique email account and mobile phone number during the selection process.
