Channel Nine chief content officer admits network ‘never wanted’ any of the happfhjmfghmen business on Married at First Sight as eighth season begins

Married at First Sight has captivated viewers with an endless amount of drama since its premiere in 2015.

And as the eighth season of the dating series kicked off Monday, Channel Nine’s chief content officer touched on the previously unfolding affairs between the show’s contestants.

Speaking to MediaWeek, Adrian Swift said the network “ never wanted ” romance to flourish between unpaired attendees.

“ All the extreme things on the show and stuff that we never wanted to happen, ” he said.

“What makes the show so great is that we don’t know what’s going to happen.

However, this year looks likely to be different from other seasons, with Adrian telling the publication that Channel Nine eliminated people there for the wrong reasons – for example, only wanted to be on TV.

“We did a good job mainly eliminating these people. We are now in a place where everyone who shows up to the alter thinks this could be the person they will spend the rest of their lives with, ”he said.

The first case to cause controversy over Married at First Sight took place between Dean Wells and Davina Rankin in 2018, who were in partnership with Tracey Jewel and Ryan Gallagher, respectively.

An outrageous second romance blossomed between Jessika Power and Dan Webb in the dating series’ sixth season of 2019.

They were in partnership with Mick Gould and Tamara Joy, but reconnected when they broke their silence by wanting to be together.

In the same season, Sam Ball called for resigning with “ his wife ” Elizabeth Sobinoff after starring as co-star Ines Basic.

The couple were filmed kissing passionately and even caught in bed together.

Sam has since denied that their relationship was a sham and set up by the producers, while Ines believed they were meant to be and planned to leave the show together.
