Classic JRPGs Suikoden I and II Both Get HD Remasters in 2023
Originally released in 1995 for the PlayStation, Konami announced that his charming JRPG Suikodenalong with the sequel Suikoden II is being remastered in HD for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC (via Steam), and the Nintendo Switch.
The duo of remasters, which are somewhere in 2023, will feature a slew of improvements over the original, in regards to graphics, gameplay, and overall quality of life inclusions. The first category of changes is especially noteworthy – not only are all character portraits faithfully redrawn from the original Suikoden designer Junko Kawano, but the pixel sprites and environmental effects have also been given a facelift.
In a nutshell, players can relive (or rather relive) the adventures of their favorite characters with flickering flames, moving clouds and even falling leaves in the background. Needless to say, the remasters also include all of the accompanying audio – running water, footsteps, and the like.
Apart from the graphics and audio, there will also be improvements to make the gaming experience smoother. For example, there will be a dialogue log to help players (especially new ones!) through the story, plus double speed protocols and even auto combat protocols. After all, it’s important to keep the nostalgia intact, but at the same time, there’s no real reason to deny such “modern conveniences” either.
