“Climate Change” launches the National Agenda for Air Quality 2031


The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment launched the “National Agenda for Air Quality 2031”, which was approved by the Council of Ministers headed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, last June. The agenda includes three strategic pillars: Monitoring, Mitigation, and Management.

The strategy came as a general framework to lead and coordinate the efforts of federal and local government agencies, and private sector institutions, in monitoring and managing air quality effectively and mitigating pollution, to ensure the enhancement of air quality, and to contribute to creating a safe and healthy environment, and improving the quality of life in line with the goals of the UAE Centennial 2071.

The launch came during a forum organized by the Ministry to celebrate World Clean Air Day, under the slogan “The Air We Share”, with the participation of the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, the United Nations, the Higher Institute for Green Growth, the Climate and Clean Air Alliance, and a group of government and private agencies, and academic institutions at the level of The state.

In her opening speech to the forum, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, Maryam Al Muhairi, said, “Air pollution represents one of the important problems facing the future of humanity, and threatens the public health of humans and the environment alike, as global estimates indicate that it causes seven million premature deaths annually, Its exacerbation also impedes work efforts to confront the most threatening challenge to the future of the planet – the challenge of climate change.

She indicated that as part of our strategic role, we launched the National Air Quality Agenda in the UAE 2031, which was prepared in cooperation and coordination with government agencies and relevant private sector institutions at the state level, to set a general framework for directions, initiatives and projects that will be worked on in the coming years, and a time frame for this. the work.
