On today’s Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez was asked about Wade Keller’s recent statement that things seem to be leaning towards CM Punk not returning to AEW.
Earlier this week, Keller said the following regarding Punk not being mentioned at AEW Dynamite when Ian Riccaboni spoke about the ROH title lineage:
“I think this is remarkable but not surprising [that] he ruled out CM Punk’s name because he was talking about some of the biggest names to have had the title,” Keller said. As I spoke to Jason Powell yesterday – I don’t expect CM Punk to wrestle in AEW again. I’m not saying it’s 100 percent sure, but everything points to some sort of takeover of his contract. We will eventually learn more about that situation.”
Alvarez said the following on WOL today:

“I’ve heard Wade speculate about a buyout and let’s put it this way. It wouldn’t surprise me, but nobody, nobody, nobody is talking now. So everything is speculation. Nobody is saying anything.”
Alvarez continued: “The point of the brawl is that there really aren’t two sides to the story anymore. There were two sides to the story for a while, but now pretty much both sides agree that CM Punk struck the first blow. punk side has pulled back from kicking the door They have admitted: [The Bucks] didn’t kick in the door. The Young Bucks entered the room. They didn’t just go into the room with the head of the legal department. They entered the room with the head of the legal department (Megha Parekh) and the head of talent relations (Christopher Daniels). So they don’t kick in the door and like I said, both sides agree they didn’t kick in the door. Really the only difference of opinion on this point is that the Bucks were aggressive? Punk’s side admitted to throwing the first punch. The only difference of opinion is that he was actually afraid for his safety or did he just start hitting?
“Other than that, all sides are on the same page. I don’t expect to see CM Punk in AEW anymore. I don’t know anything about The Bucks and Kenny Omega. I don’t know what they’re thinking right now but I do know it was a long time ago and no one is communicating with anyone about anything. It must be frustrating. So I don’t know what they’re thinking now…”
“When they buy out Punk, there’s some communication. You don’t buy out with anybody and you don’t communicate. As for Kenny Omega and The Bucks, by talking to all kinds of people in AEW, nobody is communicating something with Kenny Omega and The Bucks. Nothing. They are absolutely 100 percent in the dark… I don’t know what the future holds for anyone.”
