On Day 2, Mirabai Chanu won gold, Bindyarani Devi silver in weightlifting, Sanket Sargar the historic silver medal and Gururaja Pujary’s epic bronze in the men.

The Indian contingent also defeated Sri Lanka 5-0 in badminton and then also beat Australia 4-1 to secure a place in the quarter-finals. In squash, Joshna Chinappa and Sourav Ghosal won their respective matches.
