VR State Railways replaced train service with buses on local routes between Kouvola, Kotka and Lahti after train conductors in Kouvola stopped on Friday to protest the start of negotiations that could lead to possible staff reductions.

All commuter trains between Kouvola and the port of Kotka are replaced by buses. The bus ride takes about an hour and 25 minutes.

Buses have also replaced the Z and H trains operating between Kouvola and Lahti. However, the Z-train departing Helsinki at 3.35pm will travel to Lahti where buses will carry passengers to Kouvola.

Some long-distance Friday trains have also been canceled.

Full details of the changes to Friday’s services are available in English on the VR website.
