MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. (TBEN) – A correctional officer was killed and another was injured Sunday in a stabbing attack on Indiana State Prison in Michigan City.
Indiana State Police said that at 2:40 p.m., an inmate attacked two correctional officers in a common area of the prison.

The two correctional officers were taken to St. Anthony House Franciscan Hospital in Michigan City, where one of them was pronounced dead, state police said. The other officer was in serious condition.

Tymetri Campbell, 38 – an inmate at the prison – faces several preliminary charges, including murder, state police said.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with our staff and their families,” the Indiana Corrections Department said.
