Court jails high school student for threatening to kill teacher

A high school student, Segun Dosumu, has to spend three weeks in prison with hard labor for threatening to kill one of his teachers.

It was then that a magistrate’s court in Abeokuta on Thursday found the 20-year-old student guilty of the charges against him.

Dosumu, a resident of the Iboro area in Ogun state, reportedly pleaded guilty to the charge when it was read to him in court.

As a result, the magistrate, Mr. SS Sotayo, after reviewing the facts of the case presented to him by the prosecutor, ASP Wale Diyaolu, sentenced Dosumu, but with an option of a fine of N 200,000.

According to the magistrate, all the evidence presented to the court had proved beyond a reasonable doubt that Dosumu was guilty of the alleged crime, even apart from his admission of guilt.

Prosecutor Diyaolu previously informed the court that the convict committed the offense on Tuesday at Eyinni General High School in the Iboro Yewa North local government area in Ogun state.

Diyaolu had revealed that the SSS3 student threatened to kill or injure the teacher, identified as Mr. Ismail Fadeyi, with a broken bottle.

The offense, Diyaolu argued, violated Article 86 of the Penal Code, Ogun State Laws, 2006.
