Courtney Love shares photo of late husband Kurt Cobain on what would have been her 54th birthday: ‘Handsome boy’

Courtney Love shared a black and white photo of her late husband Kurt Cobain on her Instagram on Saturday morning.

The message was intended to commemorate the date of what would have been the 54th birthday of the leader of Nirvana.

The 56-year-old musician also included a quote from the backing notes of the group’s 1992 compilation album Incesticide in the post’s caption.

The quote read, “At this point I have a request for our fans. If any of you hate gay people, people of different color, or women, please do us a favor. – Leave the shit alone! Don’t come to our concerts and don’t buy our records. “‘

Love also included its own message, written: “Happy birthday my beautiful boy”.

Accounts differ on when the former couple first met, with many sources noting that Cobain first spoke to his future wife after a 1989 broadcast.

Music journalist Everett True later said he personally introduced the couple on an L7 and Butthole Surfers show in 1991.

Cobain and Love tied the knot in February 1992 at the end of Nirvana’s Pacific Rim tour; the Come As You Are singer notably wore pajamas to his own wedding.

The two welcomed a daughter named Frances Bean, currently 28, the same year they were married.

The couple’s relationship received extensive coverage in the media due to the two individuals’ heavy drug use; Love later claimed to have quit using substances after the birth of her daughter.

Cobain’s drug problems steadily worsened in his later years, and after entering rehab several times, he committed suicide at his Seattle home at the age of 27. .

The couple’s relationship has been the subject of intense coverage and several films and TV series focusing on the two have been produced since the singer’s death.

In 1998, a documentary called Kurt & Courtney was released that popularized the theory that Love was directly involved in her husband’s death.

In 2015, Kurt Cobain: Montage Of Heck premiered on HBO and covered the guitarist’s life; his ex-wife and daughter attended the film’s premiere.

Upon the film’s release, Deadline reported that Love had sent cease and desist letters to various theaters that were showing the feature; no lawsuit has ever been brought on his behalf.
