Finance Minister Zainab Ahmed said the federal government will have no choice but to impose another lockdown if the rise in COVID-19 cases continues.
The minister, when breaking down the 2021 budget in Abuja on Tuesday, prayed that the situation would not reach the point where Nigerians would be forced to stay at home again.
According to her, “We hope that we never have to lock down the economy like we have done before because the impact is very high on the economy, but if the health challenge becomes so great and the government does not choice, then that action could be taken. “
The minister noted that what the government is doing right now is to strengthen the measures that need to be taken to mitigate the impact of the virus.
DAILY POST previously reported that the federal government may be forced to declare another lockdown after the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases crosses the 100,000 mark in the country.
