COVID-19 tracker: Tokyo registers 531 new cases, downward trend continues

Tokyo confirmed 531 new coronavirus infections on Thursday, up from 831 a week earlier, the metropolitan government said.

The daily figure in the capital marked the 32nd consecutive day of week-over-week decline.

New deaths from COVID-19 totaled 18.

The seven-day average of new cases stood at 547.4 on Thursday, down from 1,011.4 the week before.

The number of coronavirus patients with severe symptoms by metropolitan government criteria fell from three on Wednesday to 143.

Nationwide, 3,245 new cases and 54 deaths were confirmed as of Wednesday. The number of critically ill cases stood at 1,383, down from 46.
