Indian boxer Amit Panghal ensured that he reached the semi-finals when he won the quarters in the men’s flyweight (51 kg) category. He defeated Scotsman Lennon Mulligan in the quarter-finals by unanimous decision (5:0).

Panghal, fighting from the red corner, took the first round with four of the five judges ruling in his favor.
Also in the second round, the Indian was challenged by the Scottish boxer, but he seemed to have an answer for everything, as he got four judges who decided in his favor.
The third round was just a formality as the Indian boxer had already sealed the spot. With this win, Amit Panghal adds another medal to the total, but it remains to be seen what the color of the medal will be.

On Day 6, India was dealt a blow after Lovlina Borgohain, winner of the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics, was forced to withdraw from the Commonwealth Games in the quarterfinals.
This news came after three Indian boxers, including Nikhat Zareen (50kg), Nitu Ganghas (48kg) and Mohammed Hussamudin (57kg), all reached the semifinals in their respective categories to secure a medal for India each.
