Dave Chappelle is in shock over the sudden death of his close friend Bob Saget at 65 in a Florida hotel room on Sunday.

On Thursday, the 48-year-old star said he also regretted not delivering the Full House actor’s final text before his passing.

“Dude he just texted me and I saw the text yesterday and never got back to him because I was just busy,” Chappelle said in a clip shared by TMZ on Friday. ‘Yes, it happens. I’m just saying this to remind you: these moments are precious.

David was performing stand-up at the Peppermint Club in Los Angeles on Thursday night when he made the comments.

The comedian began by saying that he was “getting old” and that at his age “a lot of people I know are dying” because he started doing comedy young.

“All my peers are older than me,” he said.

And the TV star also said he – like the rest of the world – “hasn’t seen Bob [death] future.’

And that’s when Chappelle shared that he didn’t return Bob’s text in time.

Also during his Peppermint set, Chappelle opened up about the backlash he encountered about the transphobic comments he made in his October Netflix comedy special The Closer.

“The new me won’t make any of those transphobic bigoted jokes,” he said Thursday.

Someone shouted, “F*** them, Dave”, and Chappelle added, “I’ll tell you something else, I’m not in a fight with the transgender community – this is ridiculous”. I don’t blame the L’s, B’s, G’s or T’s…blame the Jews! Someone else’s fault.

Saget – who was known to audiences around the world for his role as Danny Tanner on the sitcom Full House – was found dead in his hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando, Florida on Sunday while in tour with his stand-up Show.

In a statement, police told E! News: ‘On 01/09/2022, just after 4 p.m., Deputies responded to the 4000 block of Central Florida Parkway (Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes) in response to a man-down call. “Upon arrival they located an unresponsive male in a hotel room. The man, identified as Robert Lane Saget, was pronounced dead at the scene. We have no information on the cause of death.

His cause of death has yet to be released, although no signs of drug use or foul play were reported Friday.

The star – who also provided the voice of narrator in the comedy series How I Met Your Mother – is survived by his wife Kelly Rizzo and three children Aubrey, 34, Lara, 32 and Jennifer, 29, whom he has with ex-wife Sherri Kramer.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen – who co-starred as Bob’s daughter Michelle Tanner on ‘Full House’ and starred from the age of six months to nine years old – said in a statement that they were “deeply saddened” by their co-star’s death.

The 35-year-old twin actresses told Page Six, “Bob was the most loving, compassionate and generous man. We are deeply saddened that he is no longer with us, but know that he will continue to be by our side to guide us with as much grace as he always has. We think of his daughters, his wife and his family and send him our condolences.

The funeral would take place on Friday in the presence of “friends and family”.

And early Friday morning, the late comedian’s Full House co-star John Stamos said he was struggling to cope.

“Today will be the hardest day of my life,” the actor began. “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”

Showbiz411 was the first to report that the funeral would take place on Friday and would be private.

Earlier, Stamos said he was struggling with the loss of his pal. “Mornings are hard. The middle of the day comes in waves. Especially bad. The night is tough,’ the 58-year-old actor said in a Tweet Thursday night.

Stamos paid tribute to the actor in a tribute post on his Instagram on Tuesday. “I’m not ready to accept that he’s gone – I’m not going to say goodbye yet,” John began in his caption. “I’m going to imagine him there, always on the go, doing what he loves with all his heart and humor.”

John and Bob worked together on Full House from 1987 to 1995 and were reunited for the reboot show, Fuller House, in 2016.
