David Beckham would earn more by appearing in the FIFA21 video game than playing real football.
The 45-year-old star has reportedly won a three-year £ 40million contract to play the role of special icon of the game on PlayStation and Xbox, reports The Mirror.
During his playing career, David earned around £ 100,000 a week at Manchester United and signed a five-year £ 25million contract when he moved in 2007 to LA Galaxy.

A source told the publication: ‘FIFA manufacturers EA Sports offered him £ 30million over three years but he managed to get a better deal.
“It’s a big addition to the Beckham brand and the easiest money he’s ever made.
An iconic FIFA player can be purchased using in-game coins, with other now retired stars such as Pelé and Gary Lineker also available to join virtual matches.
TBEN has reached out to a representative for David to request comment.
David also celebrated his return to FIFA on Instagram and joked that this exciting new signing could help improve his reputation with his sons.

The retired star said: “ I am so proud to return to EA Sports with my FIFA 21 Beckham Edition cover.
‘Excited to be back on the pitch as an icon with some of my former teammates! Maybe @romeobeckham and @cruzbeckham will think I’m a cool dad now.
And besides celebrating his virtual entry into the game, David and his wife Victoria also reportedly enjoyed I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here !.
It has been claimed the couple are big fans of Beverley Callard, who played Liz McDonald on Coronation Street, and hope she will be crowned the winner.

David and Victoria were supportive of Beverley when she left the soap opera in 1998 and even went to her graduation party.
Discussing the momentous moment in his book Unbroken: My Story Of Survival, Bev detailed some of the famous guests who showed up to wish him luck.
She wrote: ‘Coronation Street threw an amazing party for me. Nick Cochrane had already been written but he came back for the party and everyone from the cast was there.

She then revealed to Hollie that it took the Terminator star, 73, a total of 18 months to build each of her half-inch calves.
Speaking later in the Telegraph, Hollie joked that nothing ‘surprises’ her with Beverley as she reflects on Beverley’s rather impressive name drop.
