With over 50 million cyclists in the United States, bike shops are struggling to keep up with demand. Among these cycling enthusiasts, many choose to take their preferred mode of transportation with them on vacation in order to take advantage of the many advantages offered by the bicycle. For others, finding a good walking path is worth going off the beaten path.

With 2022 shaping up to be one of the busiest travel seasons ever, those who haven’t yet booked a summer vacation may already feel like they’re missing out. For those who are still undecided on their destination this summer, or who are hesitant to travel too far from home, tour operators MTB cycling holidays and Country Walkers have compiled a list of legendary biking and walking destinations that explore the natural wonders and culture of North America. Some of these destinations have been driven and flown for decades, which means fewer crowds exploring the road less travelled.

Timo Shaw, President of VBT Bicycling Vacations and Country Walkers, says, “The biggest trend we’re seeing this year is excitement. While we always anticipated there would be pent-up demand from customers who were unable to travel, demand was even greater than expected, for both international and domestic travel. We are seeing departures selling out earlier than expected and even an increase in people booking multiple tours in the same year. Judging by the number of first inquiries we received around 2023, we expect this trend to continue next year as well.

E-bikes are available on all VBT routes as a bonus. And since VBT and Country Walkers take care of all the logistics, there’s less stress when it comes to planning in case the last two years have left you a little rusty in that department.
