Demi Lovato will speak openly about her near-fatal overdose and her continued struggle with addiction in her upcoming documentary series Dancing With The Devil.

The candid four-part series premieres for free on the 28-year-old pop star’s YouTube channel with two full episodes on March 23.

“ It’s been two years since I came face to face with the darkest moment of my life, and now I’m ready to share my story with the world, ” Lovato said in a press released Wednesday.

“For the first time, you will be able to see my ongoing struggle and healing chronicle from my perspective.

“I’m grateful that I was able to take this trip to face my past head-on and finally share it with the world,” concluded Demi.

According to Rolling Stone, the last two episodes of Dancing With The Devil will “ air every week the next two Tuesdays. ”

Director Michael D. Ratner explained that filming for Dancing With The Devil began in 2018 during Lovato’s Tell Me You Love Me world tour, which ended abruptly in July of this year.

On July 24, just two days before arriving onstage in New Jersey, Demi was rushed to a Los Angeles-area hospital after suffering from an opioid overdose.

The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed to Rolling Stone that it had “ responded to a medical emergency call at 11:22 am ” at Lovato’s Hollywood Hills home.

A source revealed to TMZ that when paramedics arrived at Demi’s residence, they headed inside where they found the star unconscious.

Paramedics on site administered naloxone, a drug designed to treat a drug overdose, before transporting Lovato to a nearby hospital, according to NBC.

TMZ also reported at the time that the Sonny With A Chance actress “ celebrated a friend’s birthday in West Hollywood ” the night before her near-fatal overdose.

Representatives for Lovato released a statement to Variety on July 25 confirming that Demi had not succumbed to her overdose and that she was surrounded by loved ones, presumably in hospital.

“Demi is awake and with her family who want to thank everyone for the love, prayers and support,” he began.

The statement also suggested that “ some of the information disclosed [was] incorrect ”, which was a direct reference to allegations suggesting Demi had overdosed on heroin.

‘They respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as his health and recovery is the most important thing right now. ”

In March of the same year, Demi had celebrated six years of abstinence, after years of admitted alcohol and cocaine abuse.

While the documentary series should give fans a clear understanding of Demi’s continued struggle with addiction and mental health, the star offered a glimpse during an interview with Ellen DeGeneres last year.

She told the 62-year-old talk show host that she got sober for the first time [she] was 19, an age [she] was not supposed to drink at all.

“I got the help I needed back then and took a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach and it was just sobriety,” Lovato explained, adding that his ongoing eating disorder made it difficult even more complex experience.

“It got me to be really, really unhappy… I asked for help, but I didn’t get the help I needed.

Demi admitted that although she was’ six years sober ‘in March 2018, she’ was more unhappy than when [she] was drinking.
