MJF returned to AEW television at All Out by being revealed as the joker in the Casino Ladder contest after being away for several months following his memorable promo in which he demanded that AEW President Tony Khan fire him.
Speaking to Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour last week, the top AEW star stated that he is now making “a stupid, absurd amount of money” from AEW, but doing so without signing a contract extension.
In the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that MJF makes more than $1 million a year.
MJF originally signed with AEW in 2019, but in recent months had been frustrated with the way he had upped the card and outperformed his original deal. His contract expires in January 2024.

He called this “The Bidding War of 2024” between AEW and WWE. MJF has also stated in interviews that he will go to whatever promotion makes him the most money.
The belief is that in the near future, MJF will challenge AEW World Champion Jon Moxley due to his All Out win. It’s unclear when that match will take place, but AEW’s next pay-per-view event, Full Gear, will take place in November.
