A bipartisan majority of lawmakers in the House of Representatives voted Wednesday to impeach Donald Trump seven days from the end of his term, ensuring he becomes the first US president to be impeached twice.

With nearly all votes counted, the number of impeachment supporters on the sole charge of “inciting insurgency” for Trump’s role in raising a violent mob has passed 217, the majority threshold of 433 current members of the Chamber. At least 10 Republicans have joined the Democrats.
