Donovan Mitchell says trading against Knicks ‘would have been fun’

Three-time NBA all-star Donovan Mitchell – who was recently traded from the Utah Jazz to the Cleveland Cavaliers – said via that a trade with the New York Knicks “would have been nice.”

“It would have been nice, but for me, when I found out I was being traded and where we were going, that trumped everything.”

“I’m really excited to be here, to be part of this group, to be part of this city.”

It has long been rumored that Mitchell would be traded to his hometown of Knicks.

Utah and New York couldn’t make a deal, though, and Mitchell was traded to Cleveland for Collin Sexton, Lauri Markkanen, Ochai Agbaji, three unprotected first-round picks and two pick swaps.

Mitchell, 26, averaged 25.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists for the Jazz last season.

In Cleveland, Mitchell joins a young core of Evan Mobley, Darius Garland, Jarrett Allen, Isaac Okoro and Caris LeVert.
