Drew McIntyre interviewed the New York Post to promote Sunday’s WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view event.
In this show, the WWE Champion will take on Universal Champion Roman Reigns in a champion vs. champion match, which means it’s not a title.
Last month, Triple H said in an interview that he thought a feud between McIntyre and Reigns could be like The Rock vs. Steve Austin, which was a famous program during the Attitude era.
He was asked about triple H’s comments and the pressure it puts on him.
“With Hunter, I think he’s looking, ‘Well, there you have it, the Roman reigns we’ve always wanted.’ It’s Roman Reigns without holding back, it’s really himself. He’s Drew McIntyre, what we’ve always seen in him, being himself. They finally found their full evolution, the highest level of their character. He has a vision in his head of what can go right and that’s what makes Sunday so interesting, is because right now we’re on such a roll.
McIntyre noted that after Survivor Series and whatever happens, they’ll keep their respective roles on their respective brands, and who knows what’s going to happen on the line.
“I think this is something that is going to last a long time and that will be very interesting and if we can reach the heights that Hunter talked about that would be pretty special.
McIntyre also spoke about his journey, being a WWE Champion, and more. Check out the full interview here.
